The Wolfson Centre
The Wolfson Centre was set up for the structure-based design of molecular diagnostics. The Centre integrates contributions from:
- Instrumentation design
- Organic and computational chemistry
- Structural biology (especially NMR)
- Biochemistry/molecular biology
- In vitro and in vivo imaging of molecules
It has a consortium of seven research teams that work on projects forming a continuum from molecular design to cellular and medicinal application in a specially equipped, multidisciplinary lab in the new pharmacy building.
To our knowledge, this is the first Centre dedicated to the use of an extensive range of the techniques of modern drug discovery to inventing new diagnostic and cell/organ imaging problems.
