Funding
The Centre for Applied Pharmacokinetic Research is financially supported by a consortium that includes commercial pharmaceutical companies and The University of Manchester.
- An annual fee - paid by the industrial consortium members - funds the research activities and staff appointments.
- The University of Manchester continues to provide funding for general resources - having already shown its commitment to the development of CAPKR in its first two years of operation by pump-priming CAPKR funds.
- External funding from the pharmaceutical industry - including further commitment from CAPKR's industrial consortium members - support many postgraduate research positions.
CAPKR continues to explore other funding options.
- Two successful bids to the Joint Research Equipment Initiative of the BBSRC secured the LC-MS/MS and ultracentrifugation equipment that is now used at CAPKR to conduct research.
- EC grants supporting CAPKR's collaborative ventures with Biosim, EUMAPP and LINTOP cover some of the costs of several positions.
Development Plans
CAPKR pursues a long-term leading position in its domain. Its structure is open to new industrial membership consistent with the long-term objectives. All funding opportunities are considered to keep the research activities of CAPKR sufficiently flexible.
- Separately funded research programs - with suitable confidentiality agreements - may be tailored to the individual needs of a particular industrial consortium member.
- Individual projects that are initiated by CAPKR staff may also be undertaken.
