The Primary Care Pharmacy Workforce

The primary care employment market for pharmacists has developed in line with the establishment of PCGs and PCTs, and has drawn pharmacists from community and hospital sectors. This thesis set out to measure the level of recruitment of pharmacists into primary care and assess the extent to which pharmacists have moved out of the more traditional sectors of employment. It explores who primary care pharmacists are, and their aspirations and motivations were examined. Implications for workforce shortages and policy implications are also raised.
