School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

PIAT student profile: Tom Brennan

The MSc in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science (PIAT) was the perfect opportunity for me to advance my training while continuing to give the flexibility to undertake modules based on professional and personal commitments at any given time. I found the modules themselves extremely well suited to the practical aspects of day-to-day activities in the pharmaceutical industry and I was able to secure a promotion as a result of my additional skills.

The foundation modules studied in the PIAT programme also gave me the opportunity to use some of these modules as exemption once I decided to study Qualified Persons (QP) status at the University of Manchester. This allowed me to gain this qualification relatively quickly with the support of the mentors within this programme. The overall increase in my skills was a factor in my decision to found my own company, EirGen Pharma, where some of our staff are now availing of the same mechanism to study for their MSc and QP qualifications.
