Patient safety

The group's involvement in this area began through collaboration with Professor Charles D Hepler (Pharmacy – University of Florida). Indicators for preventable drug-related morbidity (PDRM) have now been developed for application in primary care, and in collaboration with Professor Tony Avery (General Practice – Nottingham), a randomised controlled trial (RCT) of a pharmacist-delivered intervention to reduce PDRM is to start. A further, but separate, strand of work has commenced on improving the safety culture in community pharmacy.
